The cycle describes the entire marketing cycle. It’s useful to use it as a guide to ensure your content marketing is a success. There can be a lot involved with marketing and easily get overwhelming. The cycle can help you structure and give reassurance to your content creation, especially if you are an entrepreneur and have little to no background in marketing.

I’m going to take you through each step of the Content Marketing Cycle, and you can activate it into your own marketing.
  1. Research and insight

In this stage of the Content Marketing Cycle, you want to get to know your target audience really well. Dig deep into who they are, where they are, what do they like, what challenges them, and where do they go to solve their needs. You want to look closely at their demographics and psychographics.
  1. Goal setting

Now it is time to create goals. What do you want to achieve with your content? Do you have a content calendar that you are using? Set SMART goals that you are able to attain to get the most out of your content marketing.   1. Content strategy

Choose which approach you will use and plan out how you will execute it for your content marketing to be the most effective. You will want to have a mixture of content type to keep your audience engaged. Know what type of content they like the most and make sure to retain their trust in your business.
  1. Create content

  1. Curate content

Figure out which path you want to take to funnel your content. How will you reach your target audience? By finding out where your target audience is, you can maximize engagement by using the most appropriate channels.
  1. Engagement

After the six steps of the content marketing cycle are complete, you want to look at the results of your content. Which posts have gotten the most engagement? Review your analytics and see if you are getting the response that you want. Make sure you are clear on how you want your followers to engage and what action you will take in response.

We are nearing 2018 and it’s time to step up your social media game. If you are a reader who either doesn’t have any social media accounts or struggling to embrace them - then this is for you!

Follow these four rules to SUCCEED!

 

1 - Dedicate time and be committed

To have a solid social media presence you need to spend a couple of hours a week and be constantly on top of things. Social media platforms (i.e. twitter) allow you to network with a variety of people and to make connections you are usually unable to make. BUT, to master the art of virtually building relationships takes time and devotion! For example, if a potential customer asks a question on one of your platforms and doesn’t receive an answer within twenty-four hours - heck even a couple of hours - you can lose that customer. Their thoughts and demands can change so quickly that by the time you reply, they have moved on to a different business or have changed their minds.

2 - Quality, not quantity

Your content needs to be able to stop a follower who is sifting through their feed, catch their attention, and have them click the link or your profile. It needs to be pretty damn good. If you have lots of crap content going out daily, people will begin to unfollow. Create up to four personas representing your target audience when you are creating content. Use them to guide you to the content that your followers will enjoy.

Inspirational content - stuff that positively influences a follower
Promotional content - stuff that acquires leads/customers
Behind the scenes - stuff that showcases your culture

3 - Know your target audience and use it

It doesn’t make sense to spend a lot of time creating social media content if no one is listening. Learn who your audience is and target them specifically to create a community on your social media platforms. Figure out your audience demographic (genders, ages, locations, interests) by doing research, using common knowledge, and looking at analytics.

4 - Trial and error - fix and repeat

Social media is always changing so it’s important you know how to adapt with it. Keep up with the new stuff by actively being on social media.
